May 2019

The search for a better RV began. Had spent 2 years in my fathers 1985 32.5 foot travel trailer. Made the mistake of buying a Class A in a hurry.

Finally went to a few dealers. Mike Thompson's RV in Colton, CA had a nice 2013 Keystone Montana with the Big Sky option. Got ganged up on by a crew of SIX (6) salespersons. All but one acted like a total expert. They were all wrong. The person appointed to demonstrate the RV had NEVER seen it before the demo.

By the time the sale was done I discovered it would cost me $87,000 for a unit they sold me for $44,000.

They had to replace a door that was scarred when closing a bedroom slide. The head of repairs told us several times that we had to have the door closed before moving that slide in. YET, he pointed out several times that there was a snap at the bottom of the door to LOCK IT OPEN. There is only one reason to lock it open. That is to keep the door from being scarred as the slide ingresses.

They said several times that their techs were going to go over every system carefully before delivering the unit. They had to use a battery hotbox to get the DC system to work. This despite the presence of TWO(2) solar panels. Later I discovered that the coach batteries were TOTALLY DRY. I had to put THREE (3) gallons of distilled water into the batteries before they could hold a charge. Miraculously, the LCD panel on the leveling system appeared! The solution they offered was to either leave the unit attached by the electric cable on the tow vehicle or attach the power cable to shore power  before using the leveling system.
